With its light weight, flat surface, formability and wide colour range, aluminium composite panel is the most popular facade material for commercial and residential buildings. In Bursa, Mercan delivers composite cladding projects turnkey, from shop drawings to installation.
What is a composite panel?
An aluminium composite panel (ACP) consists of a core sandwiched between two thin aluminium sheets. The outer face is coated with high-performance PVDF or FEVE paints. This makes the panel both very light and rigid, and it can be folded into cassettes, corners and curved forms.
Fire safety: choosing the right core
The most critical issue in composite cladding is the core. We only use panels with documented fire ratings:
- Class A2 (non-combustible): mineral-filled core — our recommendation for tall buildings, hospitals, schools and public buildings.
- Class B (FR – flame retardant): a safe and economical option for low- and mid-rise buildings.
Together with code-compliant fire barriers and non-combustible stone wool insulation, we create a holistic fire safety concept.
Installation systems
- Cassette (hook-on) system: panels are folded into cassettes and hung on concealed hooks for crisp joints and a flawless surface.
- Riveted system: economical and fast; suitable for flat facades and industrial buildings.
- Curved and special forms: CNC routing for corners, column cladding and curved facades.
Colours and textures
Metallic, matt, gloss, wood, stone, concrete and brushed-metal finishes ensure a perfect match with the architectural design. Custom colours matching your corporate identity are also possible.

Frequently asked questions
Are composite panels fire resistant?
The fire behaviour of composite panels depends on the core. Panels with a mineral-filled core rated A2 are considered non-combustible and should be preferred on tall buildings. Class B (FR) panels are also flame-retardant. We do not recommend polyethylene (PE) core panels for facades.
How long does composite cladding last?
A quality PVDF-coated aluminium composite panel installed on a proper substructure with correct details maintains its colour and form for 25–30 years. A simple annual wash keeps the surface looking new for a long time.
